Gasquet Civilian Conservation Corps Camp

Description

Sitting along Highway 199 in Gasquet, just behind some trees, was a depression age relic. From the early 1930?s until the early 1980?s, a number of buildings sat on a parcel of land adjacent to Highway 199. For 7 years, hundreds of men lived on this property, and their work efforts had a lasting impact on Del Norte County and the surrounding area. This brief history of the Gasquet CCC is complete with photos.
